Transfer bonus formula

First subtract any points already in the airline or hotel program from the total award price. Divide the remaining destination points by one plus the bonus percentage. Finally, round up to the transfer increment required by the bank or program.

ExampleA 220,000-point award minus 62,000 existing miles leaves a 158,000-point gap. With a 20% bonus, 158,000 divided by 1.20 is 131,666.67. Rounded to 100-point increments, the source transfer is 131,700 points.

  • The names and account details match.
  • The transfer is likely to post before the award disappears.
  • Taxes, fees, cancellation rules, and mixed-cabin segments are acceptable.
